Melissa and Bill's Tuckahoe Plantation Wedding
Happy November everyone! I have good and bad news. The bad news is that this is my LAST wedding of the year to share with you! That's absolutely crazy. The Fall has completely flown by for me. Eight wedding weekends in a row will do that to a person! But the good news is, this wedding was one of my absolute favorites. I work with a lot of incredible couples. I'm lucky in that the people who book me seem to really get me and we have a great time together. I've literally never left a wedding hoping for anything but good things for that couple... they're just always so kind and generous to me.
But leaving Melissa and Bill's wedding, I thought not just about how sweet they were and how fun their friends and family were, but about the wedding itself. I told Erik when I got home that it was one of the most beautiful weddings I'd ever photographed and that if I had to do ours again, this would be my inspiration wedding! And I meant it! Tuckahoe Plantation has always been one of my favorite venues. The soul of that place really speaks to me and the kind of images I like to create. And the soul of this wedding did the exact same thing.
One of the things that I found really refreshing was that there was no DJ or band! Now I love my DJ friends and there's nothing like photographing a hopping dance floor, but I know that I am personally not one to bust it out on the dance floor. I really had a DJ at my own wedding because I felt like I was supposed to... it didn't even occur to me to do anything else! So I thought it was nice that Melissa and Bill wanted to have more of a "dinner party under the stars" with delicious food and conversation with friends. It was a small affair, and that just made it more intimate.
Melissa and Bill, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your beautiful wedding. I love how happy you make each other and how supportive your friends and family all are. I could immediately tell what a close relationship Bill and his daughter have (they fist bumped at the start of the ceremony... that's a good father/daughter relationship right there). And I could tell how genuine you both were with all your guests. It was an incredible day and the start of a long, happy marriage. And for me? The grand finale to an amazing wedding season. (And that's my excuse for posting so many photos of this wedding. Forgive me!)
