Engagement Pictures at Sunday Park in Midlothian, VA
Oh man! I am so excited to share these photos with you all. At the beginning of this summer, my cousin Brian (finally!) proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Ashley. Our whole family was stoked because they're such a sweet couple. I remember when Ashley started appearing at family events and dinners and how instantly comfortable I felt talking to her. The way you feel about family where it's not forced or fake. It didn't hurt that it's usually me and a table full of boys at our family dinners and it was nice to have a comrade to roll eyes with when the guy talk started.
I had to post ONE old photo of me and Brian because um we were really cute... Brian's on the far left, me on the right, and my brother Josh in the middle. Gosh we're adorable.
So when I found out Brian and Ashley were engaged, I offered to do their engagement photos... mostly because I just thought it would be really fun! I was super thrilled to find out that they were already planning to ask me to shoot their wedding next May, so that made it even better. Lately I've been considering including an engagement session with my wedding package, and after this session I think I will! We're family, so we already know each other, but we didn't know each other as "couple" and "photographer" and that's definitely a different thing. It's tough to get comfortable with a camera on you (trust me I feel the same way!), so I think an engagement session is the perfect way to get used to that before your wedding day.
Ashley and Brian met me at my house and I convinced them that there was a gorgeous empty lot in my neighborhood we could walk to for the first batch of shots. Luckily, they trusted me and we got amazing shots! Just goes to show it doesn't really matter where you are, there's always some place beautiful around. Then we headed to Sunday Park on the Swift Creek Reservoir. Sunday Park is a popular spot for photos because it has one of the most beautiful water views in Midlothian. You know I believe that since I got married on that same reservoir!
Without further ado:
Congratulations you two! I can't wait to shoot your wedding and officially welcome Ashley into the family!
