Family Portraits in Midlothian, VA
Today's blog is blatant self-promotion. Let's be real... blogging is blatant self-promotion, so there's no need to sugarcoat it. But today I want to talk about a new goal of mine. I love weddings. Obviously. I shoot a lot of weddings. And maybe it's because I'm in the middle of the busiest/craziest/most jam-packed wedding season of my life, and maybe the grass is always greener, but I've really been hungry to shoot FAMILY photo sessions lately.
Honestly, every time I do a portrait session... whether it's an engagement, senior portraits, or a family session, I'm a little in awe of the luxury of it. All the TIME and calmness of just being there for portraits and nothing else. It's nothing like the jam-packed timeline of a wedding day where I'm sneaking portraits here and there, making ten minutes of portrait time look like forty.
I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea here... I LOVE shooting weddings and I know I'm well-suited for the chaos because it takes a lot to rile me. I always strive to be a calming force for my clients at their weddings when coordinators are pulling them one way and families are pulling them another. But family portraits are just an area of photography that I haven't had much opportunity to explore in the past few years and would enjoy doing more of!
I'd especially love to do a creative, lifestyle family session. Maybe a "day in the life of" kind of thing where we go to your family's favorite ice cream shop and document those little imperfect moments that you'll really want to keep forever.
So if you are a family... or if you KNOW a family who needs portraits, please help me spread the word! Sessions are $150 and there's no minimum spending requirement at your ordering appointment, so you're free to purchase only the prints and files that you love.
And the nice thing about family portraits is there is never a bad time to do them! Your family is always growing and changing and you'll always appreciate having photos to remember the different stages of your life. I'm 28 and I already cherish every family photo I have from my childhood. It's something I know I'll want to continue on as Erik and I create our own family. So don't wait! Time moves so quickly!
