The Heidenthal house had a great day celebrating the 4th of July yesterday. Ever since I was very little, my family has spent July 4th at the pool. We are big pool people if you can't tell. There were games for all the kids, competitions that involved things like giant pool ice cubes and greased watermelon, relay races, and lots and lots of volleyball. When I was in high school, we moved into a new neighborhood that had its own pool, so there were a few strange years of pool indecisiveness where we attended both off and on, but now we just go to the neighborhood pool. Luckily, my parents can bring guests since Erik and I don't really live there now! So we spent the day at the pool and then BBQ'd at my parents house. Then we headed out for the fireworks! Erik was all "um I've seen fireworks before," but he put up with my crazy desire to see them and entertained himself with a deck of cards. As usual. And also as usual, I entertained myself with my camera. How many times a year do you get to experiment with firework pictures? Not enough I say.
Happy Independence Day! And stop saying 'Murica! It's not funny anymore.
