Holly and Bryan's Upper Shirley Vineyard Wedding in Central Virginia
Ah, this wedding. I've been looking forward to Holly and Bryan's wedding day ever since I met them. Ever since Holly and I gushed about Pride and Prejudice on the phone when she booked her wedding with me. I just knew this would be a fun, inspiring day. Add to that, shooting at Upper Shirley Vineyard, a brand new wedding venue! I'm always psyched to learn about vineyards in the Richmond area, personally and professionally, and Upper Shirley did not disappoint! It was incredibly gorgeous and the owner was so sweet, driving Holly, Bryan, and I around to pretty spots on his property, showing us the river, the horses, the vineyard. It was a beautiful place for a wedding, or just for hanging with some wine. I'll definitely be back for the wine hanging fun myself! ;)
One of my favorite things about this wedding was how close Holly and Bryan were with their parents. Holly did a first look with her dad, and it was as sweet as you would imagine. And later, her dad gave one of my favorite wedding toasts to date where he listed his top favorite things about Holly, Dave Letterman style, ending with her exceptional choice in husband. It was basically the sweetest thing I'd ever heard, and my new mommy self couldn't help thinking of my baby girl at home and how her charming daddy would be making a sweet speech like that one day at her wedding. Jesus, being a parent just turns you into a lightning rod of gobbledy gook emotion!!
Another favorite thing about this wedding? Holly and Bryan gave us TIME to get lots and lots of pictures! I adore a couple who prioritizes their images (and video!) this way. Yes, there was video too! And I'm so glad for them that they will have video to remember their day by in addition to photography. People say video is the most regretted thing that couples don't book, so I always recommend it! I wouldn't be surprised if Holly looked around at some point during the day and realizes there were FIVE professional cameras pointed on her and thought "oh jeez what did I get myself into?" haha, but I know it will be worth it when she looks back on these images and videos over time.
It was the sweetest of sweet days. I had so much fun hanging out with this bunch for the day. It warms me to hear bridesmaids and family members thanking me all day long when really, I'm just doing my job! But they're completely sincere and I so appreciate it. Holly and Bryan, I hope you love your wedding images! Congratulations, I know you'll be happy for a lifetime together!
